The celebration is on the theme: “20 Years of Positively Impacting Our Society.”

The President of the year group, Mr David Okyere Nyarkoh, who made the call, said two decades after graduating from the UGBS was a testimony to the critical role the alumni association played in network for their academic and professional development.

Activities lined up for the anniversary include a family day event  on September  7, 2013; workshop on career planning for final year students of the UGBS on September 11, 2013; an anniversary ball at the State House on September 14 and a seminar for the Ghana Beauticians Association slated for September 19, this year.

Mr Nyarkoh noted that the anniversary was a time for stock taking, and that the class had contributed much to the bond of friendship that existed among the year group.

He quoted provisions of the association’s constitution which included fostering the spirit of brotherliness among members, to maintain and nurture the unique bond of friendship existing among members since October 1990, and stressed  the need to stay united.

“The Class of 93 has been managed well as a democratic group where each person’s opinion counts,” he added.

The Vice President of the UGBS Alumni Association, the umbrella body of the year group, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, commended the class of 93 and described them as worthy of emulation in view of their commitment to unity for the last 20 years.

He explained that alumni played important roles in the development of their alma mater for which reason the alumni association intended to co-opt some of the executive members of the 93 year group into the UGBS Alumni Association.
