UDS signs MoU with Neumann College

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Neumann College (NECO) at Atwima Takyiman, a suburb in the Kumasi Metropolis for the college to become an affiliate

The MoU

The President and Founder of the college, Rev. Dr John Osei Appiah, and the Public Relations Officer (PRO ) of the college, Mr Prince Nana Afoakwah, signed the documents on behalf of the college at a brief ceremony held at the central administration block of the UDS in Tamale.

Under the MoU, UDS would be responsible for the issuing of certificates to students who graduate from the college after pursuing the three-year diploma course in General Nursing and also for mentorship.

At the signing ceremony, Director, Academic Quality Assurance Unit, UDS, Dr Elias N. K. Sowley, said the college had satisfied all the requirements for it to become an affiliate institution of the university.

He explained that the signing of the MoU was for mentorship and also to enable the college to secure an accreditation from NAB to run its Diploma in General Nursing programme.

Dr Sowley urged the authorities of the college to abide by the rules and regulations spelt out in the MoU.

Decision to affiliate with the UDS.

Rev. Dr Osei Appiah said the college, which started operation last year, decided to affiliate with the UDS since its vision and mission was in line with that of the UDS which aimed at bringing development to communities.

He said the college was also motivated to run the course in nursing to help produce qualified and professional nurses to serve in rural and deprived areas in the country since most of such communities lacked the right calibre of health personnel to meet their health needs.

Rev. Dr Osei Appiah thanked the university authorities for granting the college the affiliation status, adding that the college had gone far with the process to secure an accreditation from the NAB and the signing ceremony would speed up the process for the college to get the accreditation to run the programme.
