Two UCC officers swap positions

The Provost of the College of Distance Education (CoDE) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Professor George Oduro, and the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Nelson Buah, have swapped positions, following an election that was conducted in December, last year.

By the results of the election, Prof. Oduro, elected Pro-Vice Chancellor of UCC in December, beat two female contestants, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh and Prof. Rosemond Boohene, while his predecessor, Prof. John Nelson Buah, also takes over from him as the Provost of the College of Distance Education.

 Handover ceremony

At a ceremony at the university last Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole, said he was optimistic that the new roles would impact positively on the offices, and urged the new officers to ensure that the college sustained  its growth.

He urged all to particularly work harder to improve quality at all levels at the university to help UCC maintain its image and also called for constant mentorship programmes, in support of the growth and development of the institution.

Before his election, Prof. Oduro had spent the last two years as Provost of the College of Distance Education, while Prof. Buah, before his new office, served a three-year term as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university.

 Appreciation

Prof. Oduro expressed appreciation to all who supported his work at CoDE and pledged to be committed and work hard  as Pro-Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Buah pledged to ensure the full operationalisation of the e-learning platform of the college and also to effectively incorporate the activities of the college into the university’s strategic plan.

He also gave an assurance that he would work to promote CoDE to international heights.
