He made the call at the 12th Matriculation for students of the Tema Campus of the institute for the 2014/2015 academic year.
One hundred and thirty-one students were matriculated to pursue degree programmes in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management and Marketing.
The rest of the programmes are Operations and Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management and Project Management.
Attaining success
He advised the students to be the generation that would work towards the attainment of success in the birth and sustainability of new businesses through the application of knowledge after their executive business education with GIMPA.
Prof. Osei said the institute was noted for its excellence and diligence in the pursuit of academic endeavours and called on the students to be serious, diligent and disciplined at all times to continue to uphold this excellence.
He touched on the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease in some West African countries and said the situation “had considerable impact on our programmes. While our country has done its best, working assiduously with our international partners to contain the spread of the virus, considerable challenges remain and this calls for transformational change."
Mr Kenneth Koomson, on behalf of the newly admitted students, said they were fully aware of the strategic contribution GIMPA continued to make in the socio-economic development of the country and pledged their unflinching support to the school in building a strong reputation, based on excellence.
He called for an enhanced library facility with wireless Internet network to facilitate teaching and learning and urged management of the institute to support the Tema Students Representative Council to maintain cordial relations between management and students.
