Teachers' quarters for Worakese Community

Three-apartment teachers’ quarters have been handed over to the chiefs and people of Worakese in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, to help reduce accommodation challenges confronting teachers in the community.

The building was funded through the District Development Fund of the Bosomtwe District Assembly, at a cost of GH¢230,000.

Until the completion of the building, basic school teachers at Worakese had to travel from Bekwai, Kokofu and as far as to Kumasi and other surrounding communities before going to teach in the community.

Lateness

That situation led to some of the teachers reaching school very late.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei, urged the teachers to work hard to ensure that the investment made in the accommodation would lead to improvement in education in the area and the country as a whole.

Opinion leaders

She appealed to parents and opinion leaders in the community to control their children and prevent them from roaming on the street during the evening in order that they would stay home and study.

The DCE urged the people to support the development of education and liaise with teachers in their communities to promote educational growth.

The Chief of Worakese , Nana Agyei Kwame II, eulogised the assembly for the support and assured the government that everything would be done to maintain the building to serve the purpose for its construction.

He appealed to parents to take keen interest in the education of their children by providing them with all their needs such as clothing, bags, food and other necessities that would make them stay at school and also study well.
