Tamale SHSs yet to resume academic work
Some students of senior high schools in the Tamale metropolis have started arriving at their various schools for the resumption of academic work, after mid-term break last week.

Although the Northern Regional Educational Directorate had announced that academic work in schools in the region should start on June 23, the Daily Graphic saw on visits to some of the schools that students were still reporting to school, while only the administrative staff were at post.
The schools include Tamale Senior High (TAMASCO), Vitting Senior High, Ghana Senior High (GHANASCO) and the Tamale Business College (BISCO).
According to an earlier publication in the Wednesday, June 22 edition of the Daily Graphic, some of the SHSs visited in the Tamale Metropolis last Monday were empty but the Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon, said the absence of the students on capuses was not as a result of the non-payment of feeding grants, contrary to reports in a section of the media.
Optimism
When contacted again on Wednesday, Alhaji Haroon expressed optimism that the students would report to their various schools this evening, indicating that all the schools had announced their reopening date after the mid-term break last week, and so the students were aware of the reopening of the schools.
According to him, the students had not arrived due to the long distances they had to travel, following the late announcement of the reopening date.
Reopening
At the Tamale Business College (BISCO), for instance, a notice on the school's notice board indicated that school had reopened.
Part of the notice read: "Staff and students are hereby informed that school reopens after the midterm break on Wednesday, June 22, 2016."
It added: "Classes resume in earnest on Thursday, June 25, 2016." The authorities had, therefore, called on all staff and students to comply with the directive.
