The purpose of the debate, according to Chairman of the organizing committee, Dr Micheal A. Brigandi, was to help develop young intellectuals in the field of academics.

The debate which opened on Monday, July 25, 2016 will end on Saturday, July 30, 2016 after the participating countries have gone through nine rounds.

Tamale Polytechnic participated in the debate in 2014 and came second.

Dr Bringandi expressed the hope that Tamale Polytechnic would win the prestigious intellectual debate as it was hosting it.

“Tamale Polytechnic is poised to host and win the championship this year”, he said, inviting the general public to witness the debate and also cheer up the students from the polytechnic.
