The ceremony, which was organised by the 1977-1982 year groups of the school, attracted many old students of the school including the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr John Kudalor, and the first Head of Civil Service in the country, Dr Alex Glover Quartey.

Purpose

At the ceremony, the Vice-President of the organising groups, Mr Cudjoe Dorkenoo, said the money would be used to build two incinerators, change all the wooden bunk beds in the school to metal beds and also build two septic tanks.

“The school has a huge sanitation problem. The incinerators are meant to solve the refuse problem and the septic tanks will solve the solid waste problem. By dint of hard work, we have been able to complete one of the incinerators,’’ he said.

He said the money would also be used to build four new toilets in the school, since the current ones had become death traps.

He further stated that the fundraising would be done every three years to help address challenges facing the school, adding, “There are other facilities to be built but for now, we are looking at sanitation and the welfare of the students. This is with the intention of improving discipline and academic work on the school compound’’.

For his part, Mr Quartey urged old students of the school to support the school in all of its endeavours, with Mr Kudalor urging the old students to help the school maintain its position as one of the best in the country.
