Parts of the building have developed serious cracks that  pose danger to the lives of both the pupils and the teachers while the verandah of the junior high school block has collapsed, with  part of the roof of the building hanging loosely. The roof also leaks very badly.

The three unit classroom block, which was constructed in 1935, has not been renovated since.

During a visit by the Daily Graphic, the head teacher of the school, Mr George Addo, said part of the block which accommodated about 108 students collapsed on Saturday, October 4, 2013, when there was a heavy downpour in the town.

According to him, they have informed the Municipal Assembly and the District Directorate of Education about the current state of the building, adding that as a result of the bad nature of the structure, they have used a rope to barricade the place to prevent the pupils from going to play in the worst parts during leisure time.

The Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army Church, Central Division, Major Peter Oduro Amoah, said they were more concerned about the safety of the pupils, and suggested that the building be pulled down for a new block to be constructed.
