The Resident Pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church Family Worship Centre, Pastor Osei Yaw Danquah, who made the  call, said it was wrong to always give  financial support to brilliant students to the neglect of needy students.

He said with the requisite financial support, needy students could unearth their potential and become assets to their respective communities and the nation as a whole.

Pastor Danquah made the call when the church extended financial support to five students at Sakumono in Accra.

Each of the five students, who are members of the church, was given GH¢500 from the Dr Amoani Trust Fund. The fund was named after the chairman of the church.

The beneficiary students are Mr Felix Tettey of the University of Ghana (UG), Legon; Ms Hilda Anku, UG; Mr Ransford Ayetey, Ghana School of Languages; Ms Dorin Boakye, Vocational Training School and Ms Jennifer Ocansey, Child Education Institute.

Pastor Danquah said through financial support many students could be able to complete their various courses of study without many hitches.

He said the church would continue to support the education of students and asked other organisations to also support them.

Mr Tettey, who spoke on behalf of all the beneficiaries, thanked the church for the support.

He said they would use the money to buy learning materials to aid their studies
