Students urged to lead exemplary lives

The immediate past Executive Secretary of the WorldWide Adventist Church, Pastor Matthew A. Bediako has advised newly graduated students of the Valley View University (VVU) to desist from immoral activities and lead exemplary lives to demonstrate the values of integrity and excellence they acquired during their university education.

Addressing the 20th congregation of the VVU at Oyibi, he expressed concern about what he termed  lack of regard for tenets like accountability, integrity, honesty, and truthfulness, stressing that “for some people, going to prison for stealing, corruption and engaging in other social vices, is no longer shamful.”

The programme was held on the theme, ”Creating wealth and achieving success through service and integrity, role of technology”.

Statistics

A total of 1,084 students including 370 females, graduated from the university this year, with 92 students graduating with first class honours.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Dr Daniel Bour, in a report  said there was tremendous improvement in the operations of the various departments, adding that student enrolment had increased from 1,968 when the university received its Charter in 2006, to the current figure of 8,172.

He said the report clearly showed significant achievements, adding that the university would continue to work to fully realise the vision of being a centre of excellence for Christians.
