According to the Chief Executive Officer of DEG, Mr George Sackey Jnr, with the changing trends in technology, teaching and learning, schools ought to change their curriculum to reflect the time and also adopt new strategies that enable them to fuse technology with the traditional way of teaching.

The summit, which was attended by school owners, heads of schools, teachers and other partners in the educational sector, was to expose the participants to new techniques and modern ways of teaching and learning.

Topics treated

Some of the topics treated were Educational Marketing, Financing School Projects and Buses, Structured ICT curriculum and Development of School Stuff.

The summit was also attended by representatives from mainly private schools from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Western and Northern regions.

Also present was the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr Christian Addai-Poku.

He said the summit, organised in partnership with dealers in educational materials and financial service providers, was to create a one-stop shop for school owners and managers to get the necessary assistance to effect the necessary changes that would keep them abreast of time.

Purpose

Mr Sackey said there was the need to keep school owners, teachers and school heads abreast of the changes and help them address challenges.

He stressed that the purpose of the summit was to bring the stakeholders together and to provide them with a common platform for the service providers and the school owners and their heads to share ideas on the new trends in education.

As part of the summit, there was an educational fair where educational materials and services were exhibited.

There were also presentations from partners such as Rana Motors, dealers in Ashok Leyland buses and Advans Ghana, a financial institution.

The participants were taken through the process of acquiring financial assistance to meet certain pressing needs affecting their establishment and how to acquire a bus on credit basis.

There were also presentations from other partners such as Schoolboxplus, suppliers of educational books.
