St Teresa’s College of Education supports orphanage

Students of the St Teresa’s College of Education in the Volta Region have donated items worth over GH¢1, 200 to the Hard Orphanage Home at Kpando also in the same region.

The items donated included second-hand clothes, provisions, used shoes and sandals, stationery, among others.

Presenting the items on behalf of the students, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Ms Cecilia Confidence Denku, said the donation was made in line with the college’s commitment to philanthropic work to assist the poor and needy.

 

Reason for donation 

She pointed out that the founder of the College, St Teresa, was also a philanthropist, and had left a legacy to be followed by the students and that informed their decision as students to donate to the home.

The SRC President noted that the gesture would be sustained and expressed her gratitude to her colleagues, teachers and the Principal of the College, Mrs Angelina Kutin-Tandoh, for their support.

 

Proprietor of Orphanage Home

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Proprietor of the orphanage, Mr Edem Adzordo, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the students and teachers of the college for their wonderful initiative.

He said the orphanage had been facing numerous challenges over the years, and called for help from the government and benevolent organisations.

 

Challenges of the home

For instance he said, he was the only one who usually provided all the basic needs of the inmates of and added that it was stressful, since some of the children needed special care and attention.
