Springboard Roadshow: Parents urged not to impose careers on students

This year's Springboard Roadshow programme has been organised in Kumasi with an appeal to parents not to force their children in choosing careers that they may not be interested in.

The Springboard roadshow is a leadership training programme organised annually by Legacy and Legacy.

This year's event was on the theme: “Agenda 2027-raising continental leaders.”

Schools that participated in the programme included Yaa Asantewaa Girls Secondary School, Kumasi Anglican Secondary School, Prempeh College among others.

Speaking at the event, the Sales Distribution Executive of MTN, Mr Eric Nsarkoh advised parents to rather guide their children in the selection of subjects and courses to pursue their dreams than choosing one for them.

Adding, he said it was better the children chose professions and careers that would help bring out the best in them.

He therefore asked the students to try and identify their unique talents and nurture them while in school.

He advised the students to use the opportunity they have in school now to develop themselves by ensuring that they took part in all activities on campus and to also try and cultivate good habits and character.

According to him, peer pressure could be both negative and positive and as such, called on the students to associate with people who have positive impacts on their life.

Mr Nsarkoh said while money was good and was needed for a good life, values should not be sacrificed for money and appealed to the students to develop good values.
