Soul Food ICT College trains 760 people

The Soul Food Information and Communication Technology (ICT) College, established by the Soul Food Ministries International, has organised a three-month training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for 760 young people to help build their capacity in the field and make them employable.

The participants were trained in different aspects of ICT such as hardware, networking, system analysis and design, network administration and programming.

At the graduation ceremony for the beneficiaries, the General Overseer of the Soul Food Ministries International, Pastor Eddie Letsa, said the programme was meant to help equip the graduates with skills to be self-employed and contribute positively to the development of society.

Inception of programme

According to him, since its inception in 2011 the programme has trained more than 10,000 individuals.

He stressed that “this is a free ICT training programme aimed at improving lives and providing opportunities for the youth.”

He explained that the college had an open-door policy for people from all walks of life and was not restricted to only members of the ministry.

He added that “what matters is the participant’s interest in learning the new trends in ICT to enhance his or her life and also contribute positively to national development.”

Pastor Letsa, who is also a trained ICT expert, said ICT was very crucial to the development of any country.

“The difference between a developed and a developing nation is how the two employ technology in their national development agenda. As a developing country, we must embrace this technology and make all the necessary investment that would help our development,” he said.

He announced that in the near future the college would introduce courses in the configuration and repairs of mobile phones and appealed to other religious bodies and corporate bodies to assist the institute in training more young people to prevent them from engaging in anti-social vices and also make them more productive in the country.
