Sogakofe SHS needs wall

Authorities of the Sogakofe Senior High School have appealed to the government to help provide a wall for the school to protect the students against thieves and other intruders who take advantage of the situation to operate on the school’s premises at odd hours.

Last year, the school’s authority urged government and stakeholders to put up a wall for the school following attempts by some intruders to rape some girls in their dormitories.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the headmaster of the school, Mr Kwame Tewiah Aggor, said despite repeated calls, nothing had been done either by the government or stakeholders, putting the lives of the students and the staff in perpetual danger.

He said the situation worsened in November last year when an intruder tried to rape a female student in the middle of the night when she was visiting the “KVIP” toilet.

Mr Aggor said the school had only been able to redirect the entrance to the KVIP to face the dormitory in the full glare of students, with no form of external security to prevent any looming danger.

He said though the Police, the Town Planning Committee, Land Commission, the Survey Department and the district assembly had been informed, they had not yet responded.

“Students are complaining of insecurity but the school is handicapped since we cannot fence the school to give them the needed protection they deserve,” he said

The headmaster, therefore, urged the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school since the situation was worrying and getting out of hand.
