At a youth forum at Tumu in the Upper West Region, the interim president of the Sissala Youth, Mohammed Kanton, expressed delight at the coming together of the youth, and said “it has brought a special kind of relationship that hitherto did not exist among the Sissala youth”.

He paid tribute to persons whose efforts had resulted in the formation of the association, which he described as a vibrant non-political grouping with the objective of supporting the development of Sissala.

He urged the people to live in peace and encouraged them to eschew tribalism and tendencies that had the potential to create religious tension, and sectionalism among others.

He added that they should channel their energies into activities that would help to address issues of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, “and the important matters that confront us directly and on a daily basis”.

The interim secretary, Abudu Gariba Chiemina, said the forum had over the past two years highlighted issues confronting Sissalas, such as the bad road network for the attention of the government.

A seven-member board of the Sissala Education Development Fund was tasked to come out with a blue print to implement the ‘’SEDEF  Fund’’ meant to promote education in the Sissala area.
