They are to report to school for the 2014/2015 academic year on October 20, 2014 instead of 13 as earlier announced.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES), it had also postponed the date for students to print out the placement forms from October 6 to October 10, 2014.

The placement forms are what the students would take to their placed schools for the admission process to begin.

The statement signed by the Director-General of the GES, Mr Charles Aheto-Tsegah, said the postponement had been occasioned by technical challenges beyond the control of the GES.

"It is for the information of the general public, especially, parents and guardians of 2014 BECE candidates that due to technical reasons beyond the control of the GES, it has become necessary to postpone the dates for accessing placement forms and reopening for first year senior high school students," the statement said.

It said heads of second-cycle schools would receive the placement list of their respective schools from October 9, 2014.

"All heads are to ensure that they make the necessary preparations to welcome first year senior high school students," it added.

The statement further urged all parents/guardians to note the new dates and take appropriate action.

"Ghana Education Service apologises for any inconveniences that the changes in dates would cause. This is in the best interest of our students," the statement said.
