The workshop, organised by the Ministry of Education with assistance from ITEC, a UK based Educational Consulting firm, formed part of efforts by the ministry to train over 2000 science teachers and laboratory technicians in the various SHSs in the country.

A release signed by the Director of Public Relations of the ministry, Mr Paul Kofi Krampah,  said the initiative was part of efforts to promote teaching and learning of Science in the country.

Closing the workshop, the Chief Director of Education, Mr Enoch Cobbinah, said, “as part of efforts by the ministry to promote teaching and learning of Science, the ministry is determined to ensure the teaching of the subject in our educational institutions become more effective and interesting.”

He indicated that the committee set up by the ministry to look at the teaching of Science had presented its report, and added that it was in the process of implementing the recommendations made.

He called on the teachers to take good care of the science equipment they have in their various schools and ensure that there was a change in the performance of students in science subjects.

The Director of ITEC UK, Mr Phill Godding, commended the teachers for their active participation throughout the workshop, and said his organisation would continue to partner the ministry to train Science teachers across the country.

He called on the beneficiaries to ensure that the training they had acquired, reflected in their teaching.

Present at the closing ceremony was Mr Douglas Mensah, the representative of the consulting firm in Ghana and the 10 UK-based instructors.
