The schools are the Gbullahagu AME Zion Primary and Junior High School (JHS), Gburimani Ahmadiyya Primary and JHS, Kunguri District Assembly (DA) Primary, Tolon Model JHS, Gbullahagu AME Zion Primary and JHS, and Cheyohi AME Zion Primary and JHS.

The computers were donated by the Baptist Child Development Programme (BCDP) and Tahima Baptist Child Development Programme (TBCDP), both child-development oriented non-governmental organisations (NGOs), with sponsorship from Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC).

The Programme Co-ordinator of BCDP, Mr James Amadu Kinyakib, in a brief remark at the presentation ceremony at Nyankpala, said the donation formed part of the NGO’s contribution to ensure that the rural child had access to computers to enhance the delivery of ICT lessons through practical means instead of the theoretical module.

Mr Kinyakib said about 2,284 pupils would benefit from the facility, which would go a long way to expose them to ICT and enhance their academic performance in the subject.

He expressed gratitude to CCFC for its commitment to support the two NGOs to implement projects in education, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as micro enterprise development.

Mr Kinyakib said five teachers from each of the beneficiary schools would be trained to teach and manage the facility, while head teachers had been tasked with the responsibility of maintenance.

The  Kumbungu District Deputy Director of Education, Hajia Ramatu Mahama, who received the computers on behalf of the schools, said ICT was not taught in most of the schools in the district because of the lack of computers for the practical lessons.

She expressed gratitude to the NGOs and entreated the pupils to make very good use of the computers to improve their skills in ICT.
