The club also plans to introduce reading clinics, regular career counselling sessions and training programmes for teachers in the Volta Region.

Awards

Fifty-four awards are expected to be given out to best schools and deserving teachers and pupils, from the kindergarten level to the junior high school.

The overall best teacher will receive a certificate, Rotary Gold Teachers’ Scholarship while the overall best student will take home a certificate and Rotary Gold Pupils Scholarship.

The overall best school will receive a trophy and a citation in addition to a quantity of desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, and a set of books, among others.

Launching the programme, the President of the club, Mr Rockson Kwasi Dogbegah, stated that the award scheme was to complement efforts being made by other stakeholders to reverse the poor and declining academic performance in the region, since 2009.
