He represented Ghana in the junior swimmers’ category at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Addressing the gathering,  the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school, Mr Frank Adu, said the institution did not only seek to enhance students’ academic performance, but also harness their potential and talents, adding,  “Master Addo epitomises what we look for at the Roman Ridge School.’’

He urged other schools to take up the initiative of rewarding students who exhibited great talent and sportsmanship.

He also said administrators of other schools should endeavour to motivate their students to fulfil their God-given talents, rather than making them concentrate solely on books.

Recipient’s appreciation

Master Addo expressed his gratitude to the school and assured them that he would build on his talent in order to make not only his school proud, but the nation as well.

‘’I am delighted for this scholarship and I will do my best in terms of academics and swimming to make my people proud,’’ he said.

He also shared his hope in representing Ghana at the Olympic Games in future.

Receiving the letter of confirmation, Nana Otua Owusuaa I, Akwaboahene of Akropong Akwapim and mother of the recipient, expressed her profound appreciation to the board and management of the Roman Ridge School and the National Sports Authority for the honour done her son.

Also in attendance at the gathering were the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr Joe Kpenge, President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Mr Theophilus Wilson Edzie, and the Coach of Ghana Swimming Association, Mr Ibrahim Issah.
