The Chairman of RUC, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, said this at the fourth congregation and eighth matriculation of the university college at the weekend.

“The Board of Trustees has approved the establishment of a law faculty to contribute to the training of lawyers in the country. Some of the best brains in law are putting together an appropriate curriculum that will be processed through the National Accreditation Board (NAB).

“Plans are also far advanced for the introduction of degree programmes in medical audit, diagnostic medical ultra sound and public health,” he added.

Students

In all, a total of 166 students graduated, while 232 freshmen and women were admitted to RUC.

Nana Sarpong said during the relatively short period that Radford had been in existence, it had demonstrated its capacity to make significant strides in the higher education industry.

RUC, he said, prided itself as the first university to be accredited to offer fashion design at the degree level in the country. Two awards, he said, one in honour of his late mother, Madam Akosua Adomaa, and the other, in honour of the late Founder of the RUC, Nana Worae Wiredu, had been instituted to give scholarship to a needy brilliant student and provide start-up capital for the best project undertaken by students.

He advised the matriculants to be focused and determined to succeed.

Positive attitude

The President of RUC, Dr Paul Effah, urged the graduantes to develop a positive attitude as they entered the world of work.

He expressed his gratitude to the administration of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for its support, direction and co-operation, saying; “Radford is greatly indebted to you for what we have been able to achieve.”

The overall best student, Mr Kofi Adjei Ntiri, gave an assutance that he would translate whatever he had learnt into the welfare of humanity, “knowing that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”.

“Let us give nothing but our best and never think of rest, play up for the school’s great name until success becomes a lifestyle,” he added.
