The Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Investment Group, Dr Samuel Ankrah, who made the call, said providing adequate financial support for children’s education would enable them to acquire knowledge for their future independence.

“Everything we create to help us today is as a result of the knowledge we acquired through quality education some years ago,” he explained.

The 25th anniversary celebration was on the theme: “Shaping Future Leaders Through Quality Education.”

In an address, a former Headmaster of the school, Rt Rev. William Blankson, said children could become great leaders in future if they learnt to read wide.

Rt Rev. Blankson said children had become enslaved to mobile phones, the Internet, and television so much that they have limited knowledge.

For this reason, he said it was important for children to read a lot to enable them to increase their knowledge.

He, therefore, suggested that schools should establish an annual prize to award best student readers and summarisers.

Touching on the history of the school, the Headmistress, Mrs Mary Polley, said the school was established in 1990 with 30 children and two teachers, adding that the population had since increased to 809 students with 63 members of staff.

Mrs Polley said ‘the school’s vision is to nurture young people to be intellectuals, courageous and God-fearing; therefore, there is the need for parents and other stakeholders to collaborate with the management of the school to make the vision a reality.’

Since 2000, she said the school had consistently scored 100 per cent in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Prizes were awarded to deserving students for their excellent academic performance.
