The project, which will cost GH¢1.3 million, is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, five years from now.

The National President of the Old Students Association of  the school (AKUNINI), Mr Kwabena Dapaah-Siakwan, has, therefore, appealed to all members, corporate institutions and individuals who believe in the need to enhance science education to support the association.

According to Mr Dapaah-Siakwan, the project has already commenced and will only be completed on schedule if the needed support is available.

He said prior to the building of the new science laboratory, the association had initiated the construction of a sick bay which was being fully sponsored by the Member of Parliament  for the Asawasi Constituency,  Alhaji Mubarak Muntaka.

The sick bay, Mr Dapaah-Siakwan said, would soon be officially handed over to the school.

The initiative of the old students association, he explained, was in line with the culture of old students contributing their quota to the development of their alma mater.

Mr Dapaah–Siakwan recounted how the school’s science laboratory had served as a science laboratory for surrounding schools in the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly (AMMA) which did not have science laboratories.

“There is no doubt that we had the best senior school science laboratory in the Ashanti Region. After all these years, the old science laboratory cannot serve the high number of students, coupled with a renewed interest in science,” he added.
