During a visit to three public schools within the municipality as part of the My First Day at School programme, the MCE said he was overwhelmed with the number of parents who thronged the schools to get their children enrolled.

He said the large turnout of parents with their children was an indication that they understood the importance of education.

Mr Angenu, who was accompanied by the Municipal Education Director, Mrs Angela Tena Mensah, and a member of the Municipal Oversight Committee, Mr Paul Krampa, visited the Christ Faith Mission Primary School, the Ashieyie Community Basic Model School and the Amrahia Basic School.

He explained that the government was committed to expanding education to make it accessible to all children of school age and stressed that the municipality was one of the beneficiaries of the government community day senior high schools. He urged students in the catchment area to study hard to take advantage of the facility.

The MCE was assisted by Mrs Mensah and Mr Krampa to distribute schoolbags, books, pencils, erasers and other writing materials to the pupils.
