The Sales Distribution Executive of MTN, Mr Eric Nsarkoh, who gave the advice, said it was better for children to choose professions and careers that would bring out the best in them.

Springboard

Mr Nsarkoh, who was addressing senior high school (SHS) students at this year's Springboard Roadshow programme in Kumasi, asked the students to try and identify their unique talents and nurture them while in school.

He advised the students to make optimum use of the opportunity they have in school now to develop themselves by ensuring that they take part in all activities on campus and to also try and cultivate good habits and character.

Peer pressure

According to him, peer pressure could be both negative and positive and as such, called on the students to associate with people who  would have positive impacts on their life, adding that "anything and nothing depends on how one defines each of them".

Mr Nsarkoh said while money was good and was needed for a good life, values should not be sacrificed for money, and appealed to the students to develop good values.

Schools that participated in the programme included Yaa Asantewaa Girls Secondary School, Kumasi Anglican Secondary School, Prempeh College.

The Springboard roadshow is a leadership training programme organised annually by Legacy and Legacy. This year's programme is on the theme: ‘Agenda 2027 - Raising continental leaders.’
