Old students build infirmary for Kumasi High School

The old students association of the Kumasi High School (KUHIS) has handed over a 20-bed capacity infirmary to the staff and management of the school as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the school.

The project, undertaken by the old students at a cost of GH¢21,000, was their support towards the development of their alma mater.

Handing over the facility to management of the school, the President of the old students association, Mr Peter Owusu-Mensah, said the association undertook the project to make health care accessible to the students and nearby communities.

He pledged the association’s support towards the development of the school and urged the students to be disciplined at all times and concentrate on their education for the betterment of their future.

The headmaster of the school, Mr Michael Oppong Yeboah, commended the association for its support to the development of the school and urged them to continue with that effort.

On the school’s academic performance, the headmaster said, the school had within the past seven years recorded 100 per cent passes in the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and to maintain the record, management of the school had put in place measures to ensure that the students utilised their instructional time prudently.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mr Kofi Sarfo Kantanka, who chaired the function, called on  stakeholders in the education sector to contribute their quota towards the development of education in the region in particular and the country in general.
