The project was undertaken by the bank in fulfilment of a promise to the management of the university. This was after the institution approached the bank to help it solve accommodation problems confronting it.

The keys were handed over by the UWR Manager of NIB, Mr William Ohene-Adu, on behalf of Mr Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, the Managing Director of the bank, to Professor Francis Bacho, the Dean of Students, UDS.

Handing over the keys, Mr Ohene-Adu said the construction of the block was in fulfilment of the long-term role of the NIB as an investment bank and a project funding institution.

He was optimistic that the facility will go a long way to improve the accommodation problems of the university and assist UDS to meet its educational goals.

Receiving the keys, Professor Bacho commended the NIB and indicated that the block had been constructed at a time the university was facing accommodation challenges.

He said the facility would be put to good use and called on other corporate bodies to emulate the example of the NIB.
