Melcom assists children of deceased workers

Nana Achiaa Akoto Berhene, who is at the Naggy Angels Educational Centre in Kumasi, received  GH¢596 while Albert Lutterodt from Pretty International School received GH¢250 being the cost of tuition,  and  PTA dues among others.

The Director of Communications of Melcom, Mr Godwin Avernogbo, told newsmen that the gesture was the first step towards supporting the surviving children to aspire to the highest level of education.

He noted that the Chairman of the group, Mr Bhagwan Khubchandani, had made it a point to give back to the society by way of focussing on scholarship programmes for the underprivileged, blood donation exercises and medical sponsorships and supporting sporting activities as part of the group’s corporate social responsibility.

The Director of Brand Management, Mrs Sonya Sadhwani, presented the cheques and announced a promotion that Melcom was running which started in July this year.

In a related development, the Melcom Group and the Mohinani Group have jointly presented a cheque for $2,000 to Miss Marian Ayensu, a fifth-year medical student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, to enable her to undertake a six-week exchange programme in Germany.

Meanwhile, Melcom has opened a shop in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga, to provide sales and service to its numerous patrons.

The Director of Brand Management, Mrs Sonya Sadhwani, stated that “this is our ninth region and gives us hope that soon we shall attain total national coverage by establishing branches in the sole remaining region”.

The Bolga branch, he said, “is a branch of hope for greater things to happen to the Melcom family and I invite all of you to be a part of this beautiful family”.

The Group Managing Director of Melcom, Mr Ramesh Sadhwani, said Melcom was to construct a three-unit classroom block for the people of Atulba Daboo in the Upper East Region.

The company has also performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a classroom block for the St. Peter and Paul Primary School in Bolgatanga.
