Make use of knowledge acquired at varsity— Sam Jonah
The Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Dr Sir Sam Jonah, has challenged university graduates to make use of the knowledge they have acquired in their various fields of endeavours.

He asked them not to feel disillusioned in the face of the economic challenges facing the country but work towards the attainment of success in their chosen careers.
“During dark times such as this when the government does not have enough resources to meet the unlimited needs of the populace and businesses are laying off workers, it seems easy to throw your hands in despair and give up,” he said.
Congregation
He was addressing the fifth session of the 48th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast last Saturday where a 1,915 students graduated.
It included Doctor of Philosophy, 31; Master of Philosophy, 224; Master of Commerce, 22; and Master of Nursing, seven. The rest were Master of Business Administration, 71; Master of Education, 568; Master of Arts, 554; Master of Science, 178; Postgraduate Diploma in Education, 218, and Postgraduate Certificate in Education, 42.
Dr Jonah said it was during these difficult times that the entrepreneurial spirit they had imbibed would be called upon and added that “your training here is more than the inscription on the diploma you will be awarded.”
He said the attribute of rewards of self-determination, hunger, passion, humility, self-balance, teamwork, out-of-the-box thinking instilled in them by the university was unlimited and much more fulfilling.
Commendation
The chancellor commended the students for funding a number of projects on campus. “This spirit of digging deep and pulling together to overcome imminent challenges is what will guide you in the days and years to come,” he assured them.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. D.D. Kuupole, said the Emelia and Sam Brew-Butler GRASAG-UCC Endowment Fund had been established with an initial amount of GH¢72,000.
He said the purpose of the endowment fund was to support graduate students’ research, adding that 21 applications from graduate students had already been received out of which nine had been approved.
Dr Wisdom Kwaku Agbevanu, who won the Outstanding Research Award, appealed to the School of Graduate Studies to expedite action on the acquisition of their own office building.
