Lebanese community grants scholarship to law students
The Lebanese community in Ghana has granted scholarship to 12 Level 300 students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana, Legon, to cover the full cost of their tuition, accommodation and other user fees for a year.

The scholarship, which was based on the academic performance of the beneficiaries, was presented by the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Ali Halabi.
Presenting the scholarships at a ceremony in Accra, Mr Halabi said the scholarship granted to the students was strictly based on academic performance and pointed out that, “These scholarships granted to students are on yearly bases and the purpose of the scholarship is to motivate them”.
Mr Halabi said the Lebanese community believed in education and therefore would continue to award scholarships to students not only in the University of Ghana but those in other universities in the country.
Responses from awardees
A beneficiary, Ms Erica Nkrumah, commended the Lebanese community in Ghana for its immense support in granting scholarships to students at the Faculty of Law.
“I think it’s a good idea to motivate students to also put in our best and come out as best lawyers in Ghana and the world at large”, she added.
Another beneficiary, Mr Kwabena Amponsah Asare, said, “I am honoured to receive the scholarship for the second time at this prestigious university well known in Africa, and it would serve as a source of motivation to me”.
For her part, Ms Maureen Bansah, who also benefited from the scholarship scheme last year, told the Daily Graphic that she was privileged to have been chosen as one of the best students at the Faculty of Law, despite the competition in the class.
