The items included play dough, alphabet cards, sleeping mats, alphabet learning mats, chalk and dusters.

The rest were readers, copy books, safety scissors, washable crayons and jumbo pencils.

Mr Baafi said the items were donated through the efforts of one of the four Canadian resource persons, Ms Catharine Douris, who took part in the GNAT and Canadian Teacher's Federation (CTF) literacy and numeracy programme last year and wrote a proposal to solicit funds to purchase the items.

Nana Afari thanked the OECTA for the gesture and expressed the hope that they would raise more funds to support them.
