The Vice Chancellor of KsTU, Professor Yeboah Asiamah, made this known when he received a number of books on Facility Management from Dr Anthony Adjei-Twum, a lecturer of the KsTU, at a ceremony in Kumasi last Thursday.

The presentation was meant for Dr Adjei-Twum to show appreciation to the university for offering him the opportunity to pursue MSc and PhD programmes in Facility Management abroad.

The MoU is intended for the two entities to explore the possibility of introducing Facility Management as a course at the university.

The course will be run as an additional training for all students to make them versatile in the job market.

Facility management refers to the integrated management of multiple and interdisciplinary technologies, personnel, systems and processes.

The goal behind Facility Management is to promote an efficient and collaborative environment to meet and fulfil the key objectives and mission of an organisation.

Why the MoU

Receiving the items, Prof. Asiamah said the university had realised that some students who intended to teach after pursuing their programmes went to pay extra fees at the UEW to acquire the postgraduate certificates in education.

He said that explained why the MoU was signed, under which the university would explore the possibility of introducing postgraduate programmes.

Dr Adjei-Twum said he was working with a team to develop a syllabus to introduce the programme in the university.
“If successful, KsTU will, thus, become the first institution in the country to run Facility Management as a full programme in Ghana,” he explained.
