KNUST signs contract with MTN for internet services

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has signed a 5-year contract with MTN for the provision of wireless Internet services to all halls of residence of the university.

This is help to improve on Internet connectivity on campus and also assist students in their research work.

Although the university was charging the students for the service, accessibility was a problem.

As part of the contract, the mobile telephony company has mounted cell sites on the university campus so as to improve on connectivity which hitherto was problematic.

At a ceremony to sign the contractual agreement, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof William O. Ellis commended MTN for their works and coming to the aid of the university to provide Internet services to the students.

He said the Internet service will not only help the students in their academic work but also the university in its research works.

Mr Daniel Asare, Senior Manager for ICT Sales Business Development Solutions at MTN, thanked the university for the opportunity to extend its services to the students.

He was hopeful the two institutions would have more opportunities to work together.
