Eighteen Ghanaian companies, including Tullow Ghana Limited and GNPC-TECHNIP Engineering Services Limited, are engaging the students in a three-day Career Fair on the KNUST campus.

The sixth edition of the career fair will be crowned with an aptitude test to select the best brains that they could engage in their organisations to play different roles.

This will include internship, national service and permanent employment.

Innovations

The college is credited with a number of innovations, including the KNUST Power Safe Integrated Circuit (IC) chip to reduce power consumption in devices, the KNUST Instrumentation Amplifier designed to boost signals in medical devices by 50 per cent and an e-laboratory.

The college has explained that the e-lab software, which would be made available for use by students to reduce their physical presence at labs, would soon be replicated and commercialised.

Objective

The Provost of the College of Engineering, Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah, said at the opening of the career search exercise in Kumasi that the programme was in line with the general objectives of the college, explaining that “to produce high calibre graduates, we need to work closely with industry.”

The industrial partners are to share their rich experiences with the students through interactive programmes and presentations and subject the students to providing real-life practical solutions.
