History

The College of Health and Well-being was established in 1969 and has been at the forefront of training middle-level health professionals to provide quality and comprehensive health care for the population, especially those living in the rural and under-served areas in Ghana.

The establishment of the school stemmed from the inadequate number of health personnel in the sector. In response to this, the first batch of 16 students were enrolled into the school in 1969.

Expression of Joy

The Director of the college, Dr Emmanuel Teye Adjase, who received the ISLQ award on behalf of the college in Paris, said initially when he saw the letter from the organisers of the event, he thought it was one of the scams perpetrated on the Internet.

However, it turned out to be true after several correspondences between the college and the organisers.

"We thought we were just doing something in our small corner in Kintampo, not knowing it has gain international acceptance and recognition and this award goes to buttress the saying that whatsoever you find yourself doing, do it with all your might (strength)," he said.

Dr Adjase expressed his appreciation to both the academic and non-academic staff of the college whose of hard work had won the college the international award and urged them not to rest on their laurels.
