KETASCO to hold lecture on graduate unemployment

As part of activities marking its 61st anniversary, the Keta Senior High School Past Students Association (KETASCO) is to highlight the problem of graduate unemployment in the country.

It, therefore, plans to hold a public lecture titled,  ‘Arresting Graduate Unemployment in Ghana,’ that will seek to identify the causative reasons and proffer solutions or new perspectives for the desired solution of graduate unemployment in the country.

The lecture, which will take place at the British Council Hall on Thursday, February 27, 2014, has been dubbed: “Founders' Day Public Lectures”.

It will treat three sub-themes: ‘Linking industry and tertiary institutions – The missing gap’; ‘Guidance and counsel.ling in schools – What should it be?’, and ‘Entrepreneurial skills development in schools’.

A statement issued by the association said the lectures would be delivered by Dr Linda Forde, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast;  Dr Gideon Amenyedor of the University of Ghana Business School and  Mrs Maureen Odoi of the China International Business School.

The moderator will be Professor John Gadzekpo, the Director of the Ghana Institute of Languages.

The statement said the idea to introduce the innovation was mooted at the 60th anniversary of the founding of the school, when it was unanimously agreed that the school had gained a lot from the state and it was time its past students also gave something in return to show appreciation for the huge investment the government and the people of Ghana had made in them.

The 61st Founders' Day Public Lecture is, therefore, being held under the auspices of the National Executive Council of the association, in collaboration with the governing board, the headmaster, the staff and the entire student body.
