Karpowership furnishes ICT lab for Manhean Anglican JHS 

An electricity power generation and delivery operator, Karpowership Ghana Limited, has fully furnished the computer laboratory for Manhean Anglican JHS in Tema, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan.

The laboratory has been provided with 31 sets of computers, 31 desks and everything needed to make a modern computer laboratory functional.

Prior to this intervention, the school had no computers and students had to be taken to nearby schools for practical ICT lessons.

At the inauguration of the facility, Mr Volkan Buyukbicer, Country Manager of Karpowership Ghana, said the project was undertaken to support education and raise literacy levels in communities where the company operated, adding that, “The speedy growth in technology has made acquiring knowledge in the sector very necessary in our day-to-day lives.”

The Headmistress of Manhean Anglican JHS, Mrs Marian Cobblah, expressed gratitude to the company, for its continuous support, noting that the donation would boost students’ concentration in class and enhance teachers’ efficiency in the teaching of ICT.

“We are very delighted to have benefited from this initiative,” she said.

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, also lauded Karpowership for supporting education in the Tema Manhean community and expressed optimism that a long-term relationship with the company would be maintained and assured the company of the assembly’s lasting support “so together we can brighten the Tema Metropolitan Education system.” 

“You have demonstrated strongly that there is power in friendship and I want this friendship to grow into partnership. The Tema Metropolitan Assembly assures you of a lasting support so together we can brighten the Tema Metropolitan Education system,” he added.

The company’s Corporate Communication Specialist, Ms Sandra Amarquaye, said the company had carried out many CSR activities since 2015, announcing that the company distributed more than 200 school bags, learning materials and scholarship packages to needy,  brilliant students.
