I got 3 Es in my A Level exams - Dalex CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dalex Finance, Kenneth Thompson has revealed that he got three Es the first time he wrote his Advance Level (A Level) examinations.

Mr Thompson in an address at the Global Entrepreneurship Week -Ghana 2017 on Monday in Accra, said that despite his privileged upbringing he needed the advice of his mentors to succeed as a businessman.

He said: "I don't have this story of selling "kooko" (porridge) at six in the morning before going to school. I don't have that, I don't have this story of being sacked for school fees.

"I grew up as a lactogen baby, I was a lactogen baby... For those of you at the right age, it was Rex Cinema, Kingsway and Harry Bellefontaine.

"I would say that, after having been through school and university and actually much later in life. I have been fortunate to meet some good people who have opened my mind to the whole concept of entrepreneurship so to me I have been a very lucky person".

The Chartered Accountant added that he got two A's and a B the second time he wrote the A-Level exams before studying Business Administration at the tertiary level.

"First I did Admin and my first A-Levels I got three Es, the second I got two As and a B and when I got to the school of Admin and I graduated nobody cared.

"Then I went to the UK and became a chartered accountant still nobody cared, so I have just been lucky that eventually, I found someone who told me that I had to believe in myself".

He said it was essential to create value in order to get other people in believe in one's ideas.
