Ghana wins award at Harvard Model UN Session
Ghana’s delegation to this year’s Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) have won the Resolution Project Award for the second time in two years after successfully pitching a new concept to highlight the social needs of orphans.

The concept of Life-link Ghana’s delegates titled “the Agenda Project” in the United States city of Boston, Massachusetts earned the team a $1,000 seed funding.
The Resolution Project was a competitive contest for social projects by Model UN delegates on the sidelines of the HNMUN 2015.
The Agenda Project is a social venture project led by Ms. Joyce Okyerewaa Danso and supported by Ms. Mina Pokuaa Agyemang, both students of University of Ghana and Mr. Alfred Godwin Adjabeng, from the University of Cape Coast.
All three are alumni of the Life-Link Tertiary Model United Nations Conference which is organised annually by Life-link Friendship Schools Ghana to develop youth leadership skills and international exposures.
The award winning project will be implemented in partnership with Life-link Friendship Schools.
The project coordinators will join the Resolution Fellowship and be part of a Global Network which will provide them mentorship training and guidance in their work.
In an interview, Ms. Joyce Danso, the leader of the project, said: “‘The Agenda Project’ is borne out of the realization that education for orphans has not been given critical attention pertaining to their special needs. It aims at providing a holistic approach to education for the students in Borstal Homes and orphanages”.
“We are happy that our presentation stood out from the initial 16 projects and are highly privileged to be part of this great global community. I will say that we totally owe this exposure and opportunity to Life-link Friendship Schools for such a wonderful platform.”
Ghana was represented by 11 University students selected from their university-level Model UN in Ghana.
Joyce and Mina were fully sponsored to the US by Life-link Ghana in recognition of their achievements as Overall Best Delegates during the Ghanaian university conference.
The conference took place from 12-15 February this year and discussed pressing global issues.
The Executive Director of Life-Link Friendship Schools Ghana, Mr Ernest Gyimah-Danquah expressed delight at the latest achievement of his organization.
