GES partners Neogenics Education to motivate teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is partnering the Neogenics Education to motivate teachers and educational workers to promote effective and quality education delivery.

The Director-General of the GES, Mr Jacob A. M. Kor, said in a message to partner the Neogenics Education award programme that, “I write to inform you that the Ghana Education Service will partner with you for your Education Community (EDUCOM) Awards 2016.”

“We welcome on board all stakeholders who wish to motivate the education community,” he said.

The ceremony, scheduled for August 27, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra, is being organised by Neogenics Education, an international education consultancy, training service provider.

The award

The award, dubbed: “Education Community (EDUCOM) Awards 2016,” seeks to reward 20 outstanding institutions, individuals and organisations in the education sector whose performance and activities have positively affected education.

The award is also intended to help identify positive contributions within the education community in the country and to serve as a platform for networking and effective collaboration among the various players in education.

The Director-General explained that the decision was based on the GES quest to motivate teachers and educational workers to give their best and, “It is in this regard that I endorse the EDUCOM Awards 2016 with great pleasure.”

Extension of deadline

The nominations for deserving individuals, institutions and organisations which were supposed to have ended last Wednesday have been extended for two more weeks, due to the continued interest and general appeal for an extension of the deadline.

He further explained that his organisation had to extend the deadline for two more weeks, “to give all those still rushing to submit their entries the chance to do so, because a lot more entries are still being submitted”.

Briefing the Daily Graphic on the message from the Director-General of the GES, the Chief Executive of Neogenics Education, Mr Grant Bulmuo, expressed excitement that the management of the educational sector had appreciated what his outfit was doing.

“The GES is the umbrella organisation that oversees education in Ghana and for its Director-General to endorse our programme is laudable and we are glad and excited,” he told the Daily Graphic.

Mr Bulmuo reminded those doing the nominations that online nomination forms were also available on the company’s website, explaining that a panel of judges would be composed to assess each nomination entered.

He mentioned that there were a number of individuals, institutions and organisations that were working hard to improve the educational sector, as well as contributing to the development of education in the country.

“Yet, most of such people and institutions are not recognised. This is an opportunity for those categories of people and institutions,” Mr Bulmuo explained.

The award categories

Referring to the award ceremony, Mr Bulmuo said the award would not be limited to only schools and teachers; it would include organisations and companies that were working hard to improve education in the country, as well as individuals such as journalists and other professional groups that contributed to the advancement of education in the country.

He listed some of the categories to include: special education needs resource; educational books; supplier of the year; outstanding achievement; leadership in education; educational support worker and novelty project awards.

Others, he said, included outstanding contribution to local community; outstanding contribution to digital technology; innovative digital teacher; international collaborators; enterprise initiator and inspirational teacher awards.
