It has, therefore, given potential candidates up to March 21, 2016 to apply online at www.gespostings.net for possible consideration.

“The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to invite suitably qualified persons and individuals to apply for teaching vacancies in senior high schools across the country,” the Head of the Public Relations Directorate of the GES, Rev Jonathan Bettey, said.

Declaration of vacancies

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic, he said all heads of SHSs in the country were asked to declare vacancies in the various subject areas.

“It was after the successful declaration of the vacancies from the schools level that informed us to call for applicants,” he explained.

Subject areas

Rev Bettey identified the subject areas where the vacancies existed to include English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies, “which are primarily core subjects. The rest are science – Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Requisite qualification

He said the GES was looking for graduates with education with the requisite qualification of a good first degree, preferably in the teaching area.

Rev Bettey said all shortlisted candidates would be taken through selection and interview process and stressed that successful applicants, “must be prepared to accept postings to places wherever their services will be needed”.

He explained that it had become necessary for the GES to draw the attention of the potential successful candidate to the fact that sometimes their services might be needed in the rural areas and “it is important that we let them know that they may not be posted to their preferred areas but places where their service is much needed”.
