Accommodation

He noted with concern that one of the challenges confronting teachers in the Ga South municipality was the lack of accommodation.

“Not only has the problem affected the performance of teachers, but it has also hindered academic activities of most of the teachers in the municipality,” Mr Thompson said.

He said when the teachers, plight came to the attention of the assembly, management decided to use part of the DDF to construct apartments for them, especially “those who travel long distances before they make it to school daily”.

Mr Thompson expressed concern over the poor management of government property by some teachers and urged the authorities to monitor the activities of teachers to ensure that the building was properly maintained.

The Ashalaja Circuit Supervisor of Education, Mr Kwame Appiah Khrushchev, who received the keys on behalf of the Danchira Basic School, thanked the assembly for providing the school with residential accommodation and promised to ensure a good maintenance regime for the apartments.
