Each student received GHC 2,400 (GHC 800 a year) for three years to complete the course of study for the first degree.

Making the presentation to the students, the Director of Corporate Affairs for Finatrade, Mr John Awuni, said the foundation had since 2003 supported 223 students with scholarships, pointing out that some of the beneficiaries of the scheme were now lecturers while others were working in other areas.

Based on the scholarship, the beneficiaries qualified to do internship with Finatrade during long vacations.

Mr Awuni said their support to the students was based on the fact that agriculture was the mainstay of the country’s economy, and such a support would go a long way to enhance the development of the sector.

He pledged Finatrade’s continuous support for the students and the agriculture sector and urged the students to study hard to merit the scholarship awarded them.

The Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), Professor Richard, commended the Finatrade Foundation for its regular support to the college.

Finatrade Foundation has supported the establishment of a model farm at the Agriculture Department of the university to support the training of the students in vegetable production.
