Don’t engage in partisan political activities on campus : Prof. Bour tells students

The Vice-Chancellor of the Valley View University (VVU), Professor Daniel Bour, has cautioned students of the university not to use the campus for partisan political activities.

“You have the right to belong to various political parties but you should not use the campus as a venue for political campaigns,” he said.

Prof. Bour, who was speaking during the 20th matriculation ceremony of the university in Accra last Thursday, also advised the students to guard against occultism.

In all, 1,644 students matriculated to pursue degree programmes in Accounting, Economics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Banking and Finance, Human Resource Management among other subjects.

Be focused

Prof. Bour assured the students of quality education which would prepare them for life and urged them to approach it with seriousness.

He said the university required students to be disciplined and law-abiding and added that the authorities would not tolerate any form of negative acts that would jeopardise the reputation of the university.

He urged them to rather study diligently to enable them to achieve excellence in their academic pursuits.

Expansion of facilities

Prof. Bour said the university was making efforts to ensure that tertiary education and the Adventist philosophy of education were made easily accessible to people in the country.

He said the Computer Science and Information Technology in conjunction with the Information Technology Service Department were designing software to facilitate distance learning.

He announced that the university clinic and laboratories for the Nursing Programme had begun at the Techiman campus with support of GH¢120,000 from uniBank.

The students took the matriculation oath pledging to abide by all regulations of the university.
