Dev of science, technology requires funding — Prof. Otoo-Ellis

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. William Otoo-Ellis, has underscored the need to match the desire to transform the country along the path of science and technology with funds from the government and other stakeholders to make the objective attainable.

He said science and technology remained the bedrock of development but while in the advanced countries key decision makers were prepared to spend a fortune to actualise this dream, most African countries, including Ghana, still lacked the financial muscle to drive the agenda.

Prof. Otoo-Ellis was speaking at the First National Conference on the relevance of research to society in Kumasi held on the theme: ‘Impacting the community for sustainable development.’
