Desist from examination malpractices - N/R Education Director

The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Mohammed Maroon, has warned that any candidate caught cheating in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) would be dealt with according to the law.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in an interview, he said security had been strengthened at all examination centres, adding that extensive measures had been put in place to ensure that this year's examination went on without any malpractice.

A total of 23,325 candidates from 46 public and nine private senior high schools (SHS) in the Northern Region are taking part in the WASSCE.

According to the officer in charge of SHS examinations at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in the Northern Region, Mr Salifu Adams, the various schools had not yet provided the unit with the necessary information regarding the number of female and male candidates writing the examination.
