“I wish you well and also encourage you to remain strong in order to overcome all the challenges that you may encounter,” he said.

The minister said this in a goodwill message to the candidates as they prepare to rewrite the five papers that had been cancelled by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

“Indeed, your teachers, parents and well-wishers will continue to support you. I therefore urge you to conduct yourselves properly, in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the examination, to enhance its credibility.

“All regional, municipal and district directors are urged to work closely with WAEC officials for the successful conduct of the examination,” he said.

Stakeholders

He appealed to the security agencies to assist all stakeholders in the examination to curb any form of leak and urged all supervisors and invigilators to ensure that the needed serene atmosphere was created at all times during the examination.

The WAEC, on June 17, 2015, cancelled the English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Integrated Science 2, Mathematics 2 and Social Studies 1 and 2 papers following the discovery that those papers had leaked.

Arrests

Fourteen people, including three junior high school (JHS) pupils, have so far been arrested in connection with the leak.

Following the cancellation of the papers, the Ghana Education Service asked regional and district directors of education, as well as heads of schools, to counsel the candidates as they prepared to rewrite the cancelled papers.

According to the timetable released by WAEC, candidates will, on Monday, June 29, 2015, rewrite English Language 2 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Integrated Science 2 from 11.30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and Religious and Moral Education 2 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
