Receiving the award of a laptop and other IT accessories, Nana Bayin Menyah, who was the best graduating student, said he was very happy that he had been adjudged the best Computer Science student.

“I am very proud of what I have done, and I would like to thank my parents for supporting me through my education and CWG for sponsoring the awards,” he said.

Importance of ICT

The CWG Country Manager, Mrs Harriet Yartey, said ICT education was key in the drive towards creating a technologically driven continent.

“In pursuance of our corporate social responsibility, therefore, we are committed to developing, encouraging and supporting individuals who aspire to become successful, most especially in the area of information technology,” she stated.

She added that the company recognised that the ICT sector needed more human resources,  therefore, “by recognising excellence through education, we hope to inspire young talents and also help carry professionalism into the job market.”

ICT academy

Mrs Yartey added that CWG would continue to advance and support education in the information technology (IT) sector.

The group has opened an IT academy where the youth are trained to gain practical experience in the various fields of ICT such as hardware, software, storage management,  and virtualisation, among others.

The CWG, which is a member of the pan-African information, communication and technology company, Computer Warehouse Group Plc., is a full-service IT company that provides products and services that cut across the ICT value chain of hardware, software and communications.
